Daylight Savings Time is an eight month “change from standard time with the purpose of making better use of daylight and conserving energy.” (Text 1, line 1-2) Clocks are set ahead one hour on the second Sunday in march and ends on the first Sunday in November. Many changes have been made to the policies regarding DST, but one thing remains clear, The United States should abolish DST. DST causes a disturbance to many industries, including the farming industry. Due to the change in time, farmers are left with less valuable labor, and a decrease in crop. “Farmers oppose daylight savings time on the basis that grain is best harvested after dew evaporates, so when field hands arrive and leave earlier in the summer their labor is less valuable” …show more content…

...Researchers have found that exposure to sunlight may lower blood pressure, … It was reported that 20 minutes of Ultraviolet A (UVA) sunlight lowered Blood pressure by a small but significant amount by dilating blood vessels and easing hypertension.” (Text 2, line 10-23) Be as this may, there are still the adverse affects on one 's health through DST. “Medicals devices, such as pacemakers, defibrillators … have to be adjusted as serious consequences may result if ignored since these devices operate on a standard schedule.” (Text 2, line 41-43) What 's the point of reliving high blood pressure, when your heart beats irregularly to the point of a heart attack that can’t be helped because DST messed with the hospitals defibrillator? There have also been studies showing “that more heart attacks tend to occur after the shirt in time…” (Text 2, line 43-44) so lower blood pressure seems to be a moot point. There are definite benefits to DST, but the disadvantages greatly outweigh them. From an increase in climate change due to rise in gasoline usage, or the rise in heart attacks, The United States government need to take their people in account. They need to abolish Daylight Savings
