African Americans suffered way more just to get here were they are now. The African Americans used several methods to gain equal rights including protesting, sit-ins, and boycotting. Because the Southern states did not want to end segregation and did not want to grant equal rights to blacks, they imposed barriers like, spraying water at them, abusing them, separate facilities, and trying their best to avoid them from having equal rights. There have been many movements that have changed the way in which people have lived but the Civil Rights Movement was more than just a peaceful protest it was a whole march of African Americans doing best to achieve equal rights. Some methods African Americans Used were, Non- Violent Protest, sit-in, marches, and boycotting. African Americans used to do sit in to achieve their equal rights and put an end to segregation. An example of a sit-in is shown in document 3. This is a photograph of 4 college students from North Carolina doing a sit-in at a segregated Woolworth's lunch counter at Greensboro, North Carolina. These four student stayed at the lunch counter because they were not served the first time so they felt offended and and decided to do a sit-in until they get rights to be served and for the rest of the African Americans. African Americans protest so they can earn the same rights as whites and not be discriminated against and to end segregation. One example of a protest is shown in document 5. This is a photograph of people protesting outside in the streets holding up signs to indicate that they want to end segregation to earn their freedom. The people are holding up signs saying “ WE MARCH FOR INTEGRATED SCHOOLS NOW!” and another sign says “WE DEMAND EQUAL RIGHTS NOW!” and another says “WE DEMAND DECENT HOUSING NOW!” These individuals are trying to bring attention that the innocent people of color are not be treated right and they doing there best to fight to earn there equal
