The Civil Rights Movement

Introduction
The Civil Rights Movement was a hard time for African-Americans. It brought violence and struggles for many. The Civil Rights Movement had leaders and activists that impacted many peoples lives. The Civil Rights Movement peaked from the 1950s to the 1960s and was located in the deep south. This stretch of time was one of the most significant times in US history.

Segregation
Segregation was an everyday thing for colored races. Blacks were separated from whites in everyday American privileges. African-Americans fought and fought for equal rights. Segregation was leftover racism from slavery and was located in the south United States. Segregation was very discriminatory.

Sadly, African-American kids had to attend all black schools. Ruby Bridges, a young activist said “Don’t follow the path go where there is no path and start a trail.” In 1963 Alabama Governor George Wallace attempted to block African American students enrolling at The University of Alabama.

Effects
There were many daily privileges affected by segregation. Like water fountains, Waiting rooms, lunch counters, and more. All of these daily American rights were segregated, meaning they were all separate. There were quality differences in these segregated privileges. The blacks had to drink out of unclean fountains and whites got to drink out of clean fountains. This isn't just for water fountains it was for everything.

Protests
There were many different types of protests that were led by leaders, There were peaceful protests and sometimes violent protests. According to the article “Civil Rights”, it said “ They required separate schools, restaurants, restrooms, and transportation based on the color of a person’s skin.” All protests tested these laws. Marches, Sit-ins, Speeches were all types of protests. People did protests for many different reasons such as voting rights, freedom and jobs, transportation, restaurants and more. …show more content…

and others. SCLC stood for Southern Christian Leadership Conference. Its purpose was to fight for Civil and Political rights. This organization led peaceful protests as Martin Luther King Jr. was president of this group.

Ku Klux Klan
The Ku Klux Klan were white supremacists. They tried to resist desegregation. Sometimes their protests led to violence. At first there were three klans and they all eventually joined together which consisted a terrorism group of over 5 million members.

Leaders
During the Civil Rights Movement many leaders had come to the rescue! They had led protests made speeches and impacted the Civil Rights Movement. Martin Luther King Jr. and Rosa Parks were some of the most famous leaders during the time.

Rosa Parks
Rosa Parks was another significant leader during The Civil Rights Movement. Rosa was riding the bus in Montgomery Alabama and a white passenger demanded her to give up her seat, but Rosa said “No”. This refusal got Rosa arrested, but helped change bus segregation. This led to the what is now known as The Montgomery Bus Boycott of
