Down in the South segregation was a common element. Things such as the Jim Crow laws were created. African Americans weren’t treated humanely. Being treated differently just because of color is not something anyone should have to go through. Segregation was wrong due to the racism it showed, the way it separated people, and allowed people to not think of each other as equals. Racism was highly shown. For example, “Public schools for black children received less funding, less maintenance, and less teacher training” (source C). This shows that these students didn’t receive the best quality of stuff just because whites didn’t feel the need to help them out since they were “better” than them. To explain, “Louisiana made a law that made blacks and whites sit in separate train cars, so a man that was both white as well as black bought a ticket for the whites only car and they arrested him on the spot” (source C). To illustrate, these human beings weren’t allowed to come together since they made them sit in different train cars. To clarify, people were unacknowledged of each other simply because of a difference in skin color. Many though segregation was a good thing, but it was truly wrong for many reasons. Furthermore, “When black students known as the “Little Rock Nine,” attempted to enter Central High School, segregationist threatened to hold protests and physically block the students from entering the school” ( source B) .This depicts that students weren’t allowed to connect with each other due to segregation laws. This also shows that their mind frames were fixed on segregation and they wanted to stay separate because they were not willing to associate with African Americans since bias was implemented into their brains.
