Political parties definitely started much controversy in the states. In the late 1700's to the early 1800's the political parties started to evolve, Jefferson and Hamilton had different views on the constitution and how we should structure our government, this "battle" started to divide our nation by their beliefs, and opinions on the government. Even citizens started to get involved. This dates back to the turn of the 19th century and is still causing disruption in the government today.

In document 1 Differences Between Hamilton and Jefferson, this document stated Hamilton had the idea of the bank of the United States. Meanwhile, Jefferson thought the bank was unconstitutional. In Document 3 Jefferson on parties, Jefferson explains to a colleague that since he has returned there has been a lot of political difference among the states. According to Jefferson the two reasons for the development of the political parties are everyone has different ideas on how the government should be run and, even though it is causing significant amount of controversy. No matter what side you are on you have your own opinions. This has caused many issues today and back in the 1700-1800's. In document 2 Hamilton Criticizes His Opponents, Hamilton states he believes Madison and Jefferson are attached to France and opposed to great Britain, their home. He also believes they are dangerous and a threat to good government, dangerous to the union, peace, and happiness of the country. In that letter Hamilton said many things insulting to Jefferson, he called them womanish, he said their loyalty was questionable, and he stated their writing was unconstitutional. As you probably can tell this started much controversy and mayhem between these two men. Jefferson did not like this letter so he decided to fight back. On document 4 Election Advertisement He made an ad which read: Republicans Turn out, turn out and save your country from ruin! The document also read: Down With the Tories, Down with the British faction. This document was signed by Jefferson and Clinton. This election advertisement criticized the federalists and one of the statements of the ad was that before they have the power to enslave you and reduce your families down to distress with heavy taxation.
