Since the early 1900s Marvel and DC have held a friendly rivalry where one comic house is always trying to out-do the other. Both comic houses share quite a few similarities, but there are distinctive differences between the two companies. Both Marvel and DC owe the success of their films and comic books to their fans;, the people who put money in their pockets. Without the fans’ support Marvel and DC would not be the brands they are today. Marvel and DC share a lot of characters, both villain and heroes that are very similar to each other. But as far as their main rosters, those superheroes are completely different. Marvel’s class of superheroes such as Captain America, Thor, and Spider-man are the type of characters who stick to their morals and alway do the right thing, or always what they think is the right thing to do. However, DC’s superheroes such as Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and Catwoman all have something in common. They don’t always stick by their morals and they definitely don’t always do the right thing. Almost all of DC’s heroes lean more towards an anti-heroheroe who have inner battles with themselves between good and evil. In Marvel’s films when the heroes are fighting or trying to accomplish something, there’s always a sense of comedy between the heroes which makes the mood lighter and takes away from the seriousness of the situation which is the complete opposite of DC’s films. DC’s films are dreadfully serious throughout the entire movie. Also, Marvel is owned by Disney which goes to show just how light these movies can be. DC’s comics are darker than Marvel’s comics as well. For example, DC’s comics have prostitution and drug use in them and those are just challenges that the good guys
