I identify myself more with Morrie because as I grow older, I start to understand the importance of life. Morrie looked at life from a different angle than most people. He believes that love is the strongest weapon in life. For instance, he said, “Life is a series of pulls back and forth.” When Mitch asked him which side wins, he replied, “Love wins. You had amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. I wondered if there is any cure for it? Are you going to die? How can I manage? What about the bills? How much time do we have left? Time is passing by quickly, I really want to stay home and spend time with you but I can’t. There are bills that are needed to pay, and you want me to continue to go to work. Time is going by so fast. I wish the world would just stop for you. Everyday, there are a dozen of people coming to visit you. They would come when I get home, and I appreciate that they care about you but I just wish that I had more time with you. We were always a team. We raised our kids together, and we did everything together. I honestly don’t know what I’m going to do without you. I know we are not the same people, we are completely opposite but I love you and care for you. I hate how the disease is causing you pain and loss of sleep. I hate how I cannot do anything about it but just stay up at night with you. You’re a great man, Morrie.
