Inmates count down the time they have left to serve until they are released, but many end up escaping long before their sentence is over. Many of the inmates escape from these prisons through death. It is clear that over the ages that death, can and will, be used when needed against deserving criminal acts. The executions of inmates have been performed by many different methods throughout the times, ranging from public torture to the privacy of the electric chair. These acts of executions, all used for the same purpose, to protect the society surrounding the crimes. Death has always been needed to maintain criminals, and to keep a sense of fear in the air for criminals that wanted to attempt murder or any other crimes punishable by death. Monetary restitution was the main form of problem solving in the early ages, using what would now be considered medieval torture. Methods such as public burnings, hangings, beheadings, and dismemberment were all preformed on criminals. These methods were thought to be a deserving death on the criminals.
