In the article, entitled “The impact Celebrities Have on Our Lives,” Deborah King establishes,The reason why celebrities have different effect of audiences. In the beginning, King points out that bad news travels faster than positive. The author indicates that celebrities have a bigger influence on younger people than older people. In addition, celebrities are just like us , but with more money and bigger homes. It is also important to note, that she maintains the topic throughout the whole article.
The path to stardom, however, is not one that most of these “media-inundated”, as Penrod describes, youth will find to be a legitimate life choice (3). The downside to our culture’s fascination with celebrities is that an image has been implanted in the minds of their followers. This image, as Penrod states, has been “presented by modern celebrities suggesting that intellectualism has no ties to success and social legitimacy (3).” As quoted by Penrod, the 2000 census concluded that “People holding doctorate degrees earned more than twice the salary of high school graduates (4).”This set of ideals one of the hardest ideals to remove from the upcoming generation, as a mindset is often times cemented to the very core of a person.
In the article “Fame-iness” by Meghan Daum, she reveals her definition of what it means to be famous, and the true definition of a celebrity. According to Daum, being famous means that the person being called famous has nothing to do with being skillful, boasting a talent, nor anything but being annoying and showing off for no reason. However, she mentioned that the definition of a celebrity is being easily recognized on the streets by people based on his/her talent and hard work that leads them to be well-known and notorious. The author also discusses how that, presently, in this era, it is the worst ever to be famous. According to Daum, she discussed how celebrities aren’t valuable nowadays as it used to be, and that it is no longer about talent that will carry you to fame, but the blunders and all the stupid, uncaring actions.

Celebrities can have significant influence on consumer choices because when people see that a celebrity uses that brand name, then they think that if the celebrity uses it, they should use it too. Here is an example; Peyton Manning does advertisements for Papa John’s because Papa John ’s knows that many people will be influenced by him if he does an advertisement for Papa John’s. This example shows that Peyton Manning’s fans will be influenced by him and making them wanting to buy Papa John’s pizza because they think if Peyton Manning eats Papa John’s, then they should too. This also proves to the fans that if Peyton Manning does advertisements for Papa John’s, then they think that they could be more like him if they eat Papa John’s pizza.
Many of these celebrities have created a toxic environment that builds peer pressure in society. As seen with advertisements and body shaming that celebrities do whether it 's meant or not people are being influenced by this. Individuals have a growing amount of peer pressure to follow celebrities such as Kim Kardashian and follow their trends due to the poisoning of pure pressure. People may not fit in if they don’t follow to the status quo which has the potential to lead to a ruined society. Individuals are wasting time on entertainment while they can be doing more productive things.
Even when celebrities follow the practice of a particular pattern of constantly re-inventing themselves through controversy it promotes public interest and sparks curiosity it often makes front-page news in the media. For years people have played the “blame game” with media and its effects on society. It has been questioned whether the media helps or hurts more in its overall impacts. The media consists of magazines, advertisements, TV shows, and social pages such as Instagram, SnapChat, Twitter, and Facebook, all in which society seems to be addicted to. The real question is, is having all of these sources of media positively or negatively affecting society? Some people blame the media for harming society by causing eating disorders and a low self esteem.
