When George found out what happened, he knew that others who worked with them would look for Lennie and harm him. George and Lennie knew each other since they were kids. Gary Sinise’s film version of this novel effectively conveys this theme throughout the entire story. This is shown throughout the book and film from events such as Lennie’s fight with Curley, Crooks’s conversation with Lennie, and from George eventually shooting Lennie at the end.

George’s Tough Decision Although George murdered his best friend, he made the correct choice because it saved Lennie from torture. First, Lennie had a problem with hurting and killing things, George saved Lennie from future problems. When Lennie gets scared he holds on tighter to whatever he’s holding in his hands. “He reached out to feel the red dress and the girl let’s out a squawk and that gets Lennie all mixed up and he holds on cause that’s the only thing he can think to do”(Steinbeck 39). Second, when Curly finds out who killed his wife he he said that he’s going to make him suffer, he wants to kill thim.

George is Lennie's caretaker. Since Lennie's Aunt Clara died, George has taken care of Lennie. He takes Lennie everywhere and gives him everything he needs. Lennie looks up to George almost like a child to a parent because he feels he always wants George to be happy and proud of him. With love for one another, they always support each other.(Core 1)
There are many judgments in the story Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck. Throughout the story, Lennie has been judged mainly for his strength and indifference. You can tell right away in the story that Lennie is different from others. He loves touching delicate objects, but his strength often leads to bad outcomes. The last location they were at forced them to leave because Lennie insisted on touching a woman’s dress and wouldn't let go.
