They felt it was the right decision, but afterward many regrets and wished they had chosen the other option and considered the consequences in the future. In the Catcher in the Rye, the Glass Menagerie and Romeo and Juliet, the protagonist in various circumstances made decisions under the influence of their emotion and resolved in pain, family breakdown and even death. Amanda made a biased decision based on her emotion towards a book favored by Tom and cause even bigger problems. After noticing Amanda had returned his D. H. Lawrence novel to the library, Tom and Amanda argue about Amanda giving Tom no personal space, Amanda on the other side is concerning Tom coming home late at night and later they brought themselves to a broader topic and Tom leaves. If Amanda is more careful about her emotion, the problem won't be so critical and cause Tom to grow more anger and leave. At the end of the story, out of anger and frustration, Amanda once again made an emotional decision and shattered her family. After knowing Jim is engaged, Amanda accuses him of being a dreamer and target against his selfishness as Tom leaves, Tom returns her cursing and slammed the door and leaves his family forever "All right, I will! The more you shout about my selfishness t me the quicker I’ll go, and I won’t go to the movies (William 96)." Out of anger, Amanda once again cursed on Tom, and this time, she tore her family apart with her excessive anger. Emotion has completely over taking Amanda’s mine and she tore her family apart, if she is more understanding and calm the situation will be much
