Why do the signers of the Declaration think it is their duty, as well as their right, to change their system of government? They think it is their duty because the government should get the power by the people. Also they are basically leaders in the colonies & they should be able to help control the government. They also need to protect their rights & the people’s rights as Englishmen. If the government violates them, they should be able to change the government because their rights aren’t protected. And if there are more groups or more power coming from the groups, it is get stronger and has more power. If we are all separate, each group only has but so much power. The people have their own vote but whichever one has more votes, that is what they go with. So all of the votes are combined into one going with the majority as “one people.” In its historical moment, the Declaration was a radical and treasonous document. This is radical because when they do something that you think or know is wrong, you can just kick them out. You don’t give them a second chance at all.
