In his book, Garry Wills attempt to tell the story, or stories of the American Declaration of Independence. He begins by talking about the Continental Congress and how they would arrive at a document that would be the base for their revolution. While Jefferson is accredited to writing the final draft, politics prevailed, important things were left out, and the political ideologies of the delegates was considered. Wills then begins to discuss in more detail, Thomas Jefferson’s original intent concerning the Declaration. He discusses how the ideas are rooted in scientific inquiry and then routed through the moral ideas in order to apply them politically.

Thomas Jefferson Jefferson had plentiful ideas of how to run the country and several people supported his believes. However, He realized that not all of his ideas would be able to be integrated into the government plans as easy as he thought and furthermore that some of his objectives were not as great as he expected. Even though, some of Jefferson's idea were not materialized, he was efficient when it comes to external affairs. Jefferson was termed as "The man of the people" with his attitude of government being let more power into the hands of the community and inhibiting the power of state. Thomas Jefferson also founded the University of Virginia. Jefferson was famous because of three main things in his life, his background, his beliefs and ideas, and his modern day significance.
My Declaration of Independence When in the course of human events, it becomes necessary to completely abolish my doubt. I will not let the pressure consumed by doubt suppress me from living my life. Doubt has already altered my life so much but I will not give in anymore. Individuality After reading both Anthem and the Declaration of Independence, one can see how different our world is compared to the one in Anthem. The Declaration of Independence, was created to give everyone the right to be their own individual. While in Anthem, their society was made to make everyone the same. Personal Declaration of Independence It seems that the time of cutting specific things out of my life has come around, certain reasons have gave me reason to believe that it is a need not a want, and this is not a plea but a declaration. I want to cut off all friends that destroy dreams by smoking, drinking, and making bad choices in general. There is no benefit or good reason to keep them around if they’re just going to hold me back. In that case I’d also like to declare that I will be leaving my neighborhood.

Anthony once expressed, “Independence is happiness.” The Declaration of Independence declares the inalienable rights guaranteed to each and every American. “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness…”(Jefferson). When he or she makes reference to the term independence, its meaning can be interpreted in two different ways. The most common interpretation is the meaning of freedom.
I believe that we don’t completely uphold the principles of the Declaration of Independence. There is racism, broken rights, bullying, and so many horrible things that disobey the Declaration of Independence’s principles. However, there are also law abiding citizens who obey everything and have all their rights, then there are heroes, who dedicate their whole lives to making this into a completely good country that upholds every principle of the Declaration of Independence. There is still freedom of speech and we still have the right to be whatever religion we want without having to deal with people coming to our door and saying we are a traitor and that we should be executed.
