The ideals of the Declaration were not fulfilled because women did not have equal political or social rights. According to
This document was written in an imitating style of the Declaration of Independence and consisted of 15 grievances of woman in regards to woman’s rights and the actions of men that affect these rights. Some of the text was altered from the Declaration of Independence to improve upon and press the point of equality. For example, ‘and women’ was added to state that “we hold these truths to be self evident, that all men and women are created equal.” The intention was that these papers be read and discussed (debated) and then put forward for signatures from men and woman in attendance. In all 68 women and 32 men signed the declaration declaring themselves in agreement.

On March 31, 1776, Abigail Adams; wrote a detailed and somewhat extensive letter to her husband, John Adams, asking him to include women in any new laws that were in the process of being created. Although not yet written, The Declaration of Independence, written on July 4, 1776, announced the official separation (with reasons/ complaints) and the creation of the United States of America, as well as establishing something called the Unalienable Rights. These Unalienable rights consisted of Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. Although one of the most important lines in the declaration was "All men are created equal", even though

Additionally Source D, is a video of John Adams that covers both Continental Congresses and why they occurred. Therefore, the Declaration of Independence is hypocritical because all men were not created equal. Abigail Adams provides great examples on how woman did not have the rights males had as shown through Sources B and D. In Source B Abigail sends a letter to John Adams, her husband, demonstrating how woman did not have enough rights.
The “Declaration of Sentiments” and “Declaration of Independence” are documents written to show equality of women and men. They both have the same common theme, rights and equality. In the “Declaration of Sentiments” it explains the struggles for women with voting rights, getting an education, and having different morals than men. Why are women so feminized ? Why are men shown to have all the power?
Equality’s primary meaning in the Declaration of Independence was that no one was born to be subjected to anyone’s authority. In a closer look, behind this idea, lays the fact that people are possessors of rights, equal rights possessors. The implication of this was that they are equal under the law, thereby; people would have equal opportunity to pursuit a way of life that would please them as long as they had social responsibility about the way they do it. It was not self-evident that one was born to be a ruler and the other a follower, they had to support that on their own. Either way you look at, equality has a lot of powerful meanings in this document.
