For this evaluation I'm going to talk about Kelly Sue DeConnick's 99U talk: How To Make People Uncomfortable (And Still Make a Living.) In her talk DeConnick found that the best way to lead, inspire and bring people together was by making them uncomfortable. So in her talk she shares her “Five Steps to Becoming a Professional Discomfort Provider.”
From the beginning DeConnick introduces herself and her career as a comic book writer. She goes a little into the history of comic books, graphic novels and the difference between the superhero genre and the comic book medium. Even though I personally think that she may have spent a little more time than necessary on the comic book topic for her opening, considering that this was a rather long talk and the fact that she keeps coming back to those references throughout her talk, I think that in this case it

Now all of her research and content that she had done for these five steps came from her personal experience as an "intersectional white feminist comic book writer" that she thought were the best steps that she could offer and she herself has found to making any kind of positive social change around her. During her conclusion, after going through her steps of leading with the heart, finding your people, listening, and just trying to make yourself uncomfortable. I believe she gave a great conclusion because this where she encourages anyone to try them out even at least once because. Like her superheroes who grow stronger by not just fighting fights that they know they can win, then so can we when we choose not to be placid and try to push ourselves into uncomfortable situations that we can
