The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines success as “the fact of getting or achieving wealth, respect, or fame”. I do not support most of their definition and I believe that there is more clarification and detail that must be included into the definition. To some extent, wealth is a characteristic needed in order to be successful. But, respect or fame does not apply to being successful. I believe that being successful directly correlates to being happy, financially comfortable, and having some free time.

Also without respect, it is very hard to achieve this. But, unfortunately, there have been many occasions in which not respected individuals become successful. An example of this kind of person would be Donald Trump. Even though he is not respected and according to Politico, “70 percent of Democrats say Trump should end his campaign”, he is still considered successful under my criteria. He is financially comfortable, as of recently, and has had enough free time to begin a campaign for president. Also, he seems as though he is happy and ready to move forward into this election and is optimistic about potentially being president. But, I think that the Mariam-Webster Dictionary must change their definition of success in order to show that it isn’t something that is necessarily difficult to obtain. Success is something that everyone can achieve as long as they feel financially secure and are able to pay for their own needs and family’s needs. Also, they must be able to have some free time in order to satisfy their spiritual needs. Lastly, they need to feel content with their life, which doesn’t necessarily mean having an amazing day every
