Unconditional Love
On July 14th, 2000 a newborn baby's cry rang out from a small hospital room in Seoul, South Korea; the baby's first cry out is known to be one of the most beautiful things for a new mother to hear. Cradling a newborn, a mother normally feels nothing but love and joy, but for my birth mother, she felt love, fear, and sadness, as she knew she'd have to give her baby girl up for adoption. I consider my birth mom—who I know virtually nothing about —to be an extraordinary individual, considering all of the tough decisions and sacrifices she made in a short period of time, while showing she was brave in instances of adversity, selfless, and able to separate her emotions from interfering with the right decision.
Unconditional, is a word to describe a parent’s love; my parents, who extremely loving, expressed that my birth mother’s love for me was unconditional, even much so, that she made the right decision and put me up for adoption. My parents—unable to have a child at the time—were blessed to find out that I would be their forever child and brought me home, into the United States, on January 31st 2000 . Adding onto the abortion option, my birth mother was most likely frightened and upset, but she didn’t allow those emotions to influence her decision. Even though she was fearful and saddened by the thought of having to give up her newborn for adoption, her emotions didn’t keep her from making the best decision possible for both of us. I cannot imagine the grief she felt while parting with me, not knowing where I’d end up, or if I’d have a better life, but at least she was able to part knowing she made the right
