Writing. Writing is a process just as much as it is an artform, possessing the ability to hold the weight of the creative mind, but only through practices of discipline and consistency. To write is to know, but not in the traditional sense of knowing exactly what you are writing. Instead, to write is to know that you must write. To write is to put pen to paper, to put weight behind each keystroke and capture the ebb and flow of the mind. As mentioned by countless authors before me and numerous authors who will follow me, the greatest obstacle within “writing has always been getting started” (Rockquemore). When the time comes that I must write, it all begins with perspective. If I am to write something worth more than being an untitled document left to disappear within the file storage of my computer, I must approach writing with rose-colored glasses. All throughout my academic career, writing has always carried a negative connotation behind it. If I am to give into that connotation, only a spell of avoidance and procrastination is to follow. To write is to ignore that connotation. By approaching writing with an open-mind and spirit of optimism, words to be remembered will follow. …show more content…
