A job is what provides the clothes on our back, food on the table, and a roof over our heads. We need a job to survive. Currently though, the job market isn’t at its strongest. We were recently in a recession, but were rescued by our current president, Barrack Obama. Since the current downfall on the job market, people are taking the first job being offered to them to earn money. People are no longer seeking a career, but a job. A common mistake people make is thinking a job is that same as a career. A job can be defined as a short-term placement to earn cash while a career is a long-term goal, and something you are determined to do and want. Most graduates have no career lined up once they have walked the stage. Graduating from college is not a guarantee that a job will be waiting. Unfortunately, careers want people with years of experience, but they aren’t willing to give us these years of experience. This leaves us college students to find regular jobs such as being a waiter, cashier, busboy, hostess, etc. Do we want these jobs? No. Do we need them? This is a contribution to the dissatisfaction. Most of the employers at retail jobs are young people trying to make a name of themselves while going to college and working a job. Retail jobs don’t give their employees full time status unless you are a manager/supervisor. Hours are very limited to those working at retail jobs which causes people to get upset. I personally have experienced this. I have worked retail which isn’t the easiest job. If you get a dissatisfied customer, the employee is always wrong. Calling a manger for assistant has caused for me to see that they won’t always have your back. This environment is not healthy for a person. The customers don’t always come with smiles on their faces. The CEO’s don’t deal with that situation and the employees get the short end of the
