Primary Source Analysis This paper will contain an analysis on two documents that I have chosen on Women’s Rights. The two documents are: Abigail and John Adams Converse on Women’s Rights, 1776 and the National Organization for Women (N.O.W.) Statement of Purpose, 1966. Both were created hundreds of years apart, but they will give an understanding of how long of a fight it was for women to obtain a sense of equality.
Much of the conversation around Collegiate athletics is an argument of definition. With the term, “student-athlete”, being thrown around in courtrooms and constant debate over its meaning, Branch investigates the words derivation and applicability. In an
What it means to be an American Argumentative Essay “It takes one, to know one” a quote by the Unknown. America has many different people with many different races. Every single person, no matter where they originated from, or where their ancestors originated from, has the power to make the world a better place. The article is about a life of a man who came from France and fought in the French and Indian War. He was one of the few people who stayed behind and accepted the new beginnings of a new, free world.
This piece of writing was also persuasive because of the rhetorical elements that Jonathan R. Cole used. The purpose of this article was to inform why Sports do not mix with elite academics well with background information, credibility, logic, and persuasion. The communicator wanted his audience to be young students because he wanted to explain the reasons why academics and athletics do not work well together and prevent students from making a possible mistake when entering into college. The author uses his credibility as a college professor and previous college athlete to persuade the audience to support his claim. The facts and logic within this article contributes to R. Coles logos.
The ad “You Make Me Feel” is based off the 2016 Presidential campaign between Former First Lady Hillary Clinton and President Donald Trump. The ad was produced and published October 31, 2016 by Priorities USA in an effort to discredit Donald Trump and show Americans that Hilary Clinton was the best choice for presidency. Throughout the presidential campaign Donald Trump was criticized about his sexist behavior, accused of sexual harassment and victimizing women. Priorities USA used these accusations as a kairotic moment eight days prior to the election to persuade women to vote for Hilary Clinton. The “You Make Me feel” political advertisement uses Aristotelian rhetorical appeals, logos, ethos, pathos and metaphors to persuade the target audience, women, to vote against presidential candidate Donald Trump because he doesn’t respect women.

Khadiza Begum Senior Fitzgerald High School As a student, it is a great honor to just be nominated as a candidate for the National Honor Society. Social involvement presents a large amount of stress on college students, but also largely on student-athletes. Student-athletes have a solid base of friends, their teammates. They are with their teammates almost every day for extended periods of time. Between workouts, practice, travel time, hotel rooms, and competitions, the majority of their time spent, is together. Although they have a solid base of friends, student-athletes tend to struggle in other social
Essay of Intent I deserve to be part of the National Junior Honor Society for many reasons. To begin with I deserve to be in National Junior Honor Society because of my skills as a leader. Additionally, I have a very strong character, and able to work well in a team. Finally, I am willing to give back to the people in need and honoring my country. Today I am deeply humbled to be recognized as a potential member of the National Honor Society. To me this means I have exemplified everything you look for in a student who goes above and beyond, not just in academics but in athletics, the community and at home as well. I have not taken this selection for granted, as I believe would be a great asset to the National Honor Society. I am hardworking, honest, reliable and quite charismatic too. I hold all the qualities required by the distinguished NHS like leadership, service, character and scholarship.
Also, he shows that it is okay to admit student athletes because they learn to be discipline, respect, and leadership based on being on a team environment. He does have a fallacy of a False Analogy because he states that the author of the first essay knows nothing about football because he attendee home games and the author of the second essay would play and he was in this environment while in school. He thinks because student athletes put a lot of their time in to school and football that they should be getting a stipend with their scholarship because they put more hours into college work with all of their training and practicing and with their studies. He also, does not contradict

An important discourse community that was a part of my life was my volleyball team during my four years of high school. I started playing my first year going into high school and continued until I graduated. Until now I wasn’t even aware that would even be considered a discourse community, but it fits all of the qualifications of Swales’ definition of a discourse community. Goals
Fitting in. In other words “to fit in.” How can two simple words influence society and hold such weight over adolescents and even adults? Though my mind can’t understand the idea of what this phrase truly means, these words genuinely took a toll on me for a period of time during my semester here at Stony. If someone asked me what fitting in meant two years ago, I would have responded stating that “in order to “fit in,” you must have a lot of friends, do things you might not be comfortable with in order to please someone or a group, be skinny, wear make-up, wearing expensive clothing so that you won’t be considered a bump, etc.
