Happiness Happiness can be difficult to define and even more difficult to achieve. Everyone can express happiness in many different ways. Marriage might be happiness, feeling love, having support, and having comfort. This can be defined as happiness for some people but on the other hand there are so many levels of happiness according to Association for Psychological Science. Shigeniro Oishi who attended the University of Virginia stated, “Once people are moderately happy, the most affective level of happiness appear to depend on the specific outcomes used define success, as well as the resources what are available” (Oishi 2007). These affected people only have one source of happiness and that is by taking antidepressants. Antidepressants are medications given to patients with depressive disorders, so they can balance their moods and behavior. For example, an experiment that was created by selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, participants were given a questionnaire asked them to endorse items such as “If I do not do as well as other people, it means I am an inferior human being” (Nettle 118) . The participants only did half of the questionnaire, than they were given a pill of either d-fenfluramine or an insert substance. After they would have to take the other half of the questionnaire, astonishing the negative thoughts reduced. It has been proven that antidepressants can ease the negativity away. Antidepressants may not be everyone’s choice of happiness. People often confuse themselves with the wanting and liking.
