According to Harris Poll, out of 2,345 U.S. adults only 33% of Americans said they were very happy. Not a lot of people consider themself truly happy because happiness can be difficult to achieve if one does not know the right way to obtain it. Happiness is a feeling that gives satisfaction of oneself and it allows one to have a deeper understanding of what one wants out of life or what one’s purpose is. Many have tried to define happiness including Aristotle, Arthur Brooks, The Little Brute Family, Gen Kelsang Neyama, and Jon Jandai. Jon Jandai has the most accurate and realistic theory because it discusses how people need to give more time to themself, so that they could better understand what they want in life. Jandai refers to his own experiences and discusses how “In every faculty, most of them had destructive knowledge. There is no productive knowledge in university for me.” Jandai ends the line with saying “me,” this shows that each person has their own views on happiness, happiness has a different meaning for each person and every person should make their own happiness. Whether that means being rich and “successful” or just staying at home and being successful in their own eyes. This does not mean that a person should not attend a university, it just means that a person needs to decide what is the best for themself. Jon Jandai also compares himself with his friend saying “in three months, I got a house. And another friend, who’s the most clever in the class, spent three months to build his house too. But, he had to be in debt. He had to pay for his debt for thirty years.” Jandai provides this example to show that they both ended up with the same result but they both had very different paths to achieve it. Even though the other guy was the most clever, Jandai had the benefit. One does not have to be clever, successful or rich to be happy, Jandai was smart and built his own house without having to be in debt. Success cannot always guarantee happiness but if a person understands their abilities then they can guarantee happiness for
