Lying. The word "lying" is a present participle of the word "lie," which is a verb meaning to intentionally provide fallacious facets, or a noun meaning an erroneous utterance. Lying is an action that is performed even more frequently than a Broadway musical's curtain ascends. As a result, it has become quite a trifle. For many, lying is no longer a special occasion, but rather a daily chore on a clipboard, patiently waiting to be crossed off when the sun kisses the earth goodnight. The chore has become so second-nature that it is not even pondered prior to being completed. If the world excels at something together as a whole, that something would be lying. Lies, lies, lies. They're everywhere.
Lying is such a peculiar paraphernalia. The world is so talented at the addicting profession, but for some reason, we feel culpable after doing it. The addiction is almost as baleful as a cigarette, but just as difficult - if not more difficult - to part from. Forgoing a cigarette is easier to do because that is a personal decision that only affects that person. While retiring from a life-long career of lying, consequences come flowing like a river, affecting both the liar and the people around him.

But what people often fail to realize is that while the truth may seem burdensome in the moment, the lie will become even more burdensome in the future. So, if this is a known fact about lying before humming the deceptive locutions, what possesses a man to continue to utter the untrue? Well, at the moment the truth is contemplated, for some eccentric reason, the lie just seems more apposite. Maybe the lie will lead to popularity, or maybe the lie will just improve how people see that person.
