How do you perceive religion? Have you ever noticed that religion is seen in various ways

in today's society? Comparing it to when the Koran was written by the the Persians, we can

observe the dramatic change of opinion that exist today in a person’s certain beliefs or religion.

Defined in many ways, religion has more than one definition because it's such a broad

topic. But if it were to be explained, Merriam Webster's Dictionary states that, “Religion is a

particular system of faith or worship to someone(s) or something(s). In addition, as the years go

by new ideas are formed and things are not seen in the same ways anymore. This explains why

the word religion has a variety of meanings.

immense devotion these humans had for their God(s). As well, demonstrating that back in time

mostly everyone believed in a God(s). In fact, years later after the Koran was written, religion was

still substantial for some humans. Proved by James H. Hutson when he stated, “From the years

1700-1740 it was estimated that around 75-80% of the population attended churches.” Therefore,

revealing the great significance religion still has on some people’s lives.

However, when comparing time frames we can emphasise the huge contrast in thoughts

and opinions on religion. Not only expressed through thoughts and emotions, it’s not hard to notice

the loss in interest about religion. Divulging in a public matter, Friedrich Nietzsche’s expressed, “I

cannot believe in a god who wants to be praised all the time.” More so, to a recent study done by

Joani Schultz and Thom Schultz in 2010-2012, they discovered that “More than 40% of

Americans say they go to church weekly… however, only 20% are actually in church.. 80%
