Empathy, the ability to understand and share the feelings of another. The word empathy has an impact on the community because someone is understanding one’s feelings and there’s people out there that care. The phrase, “Place yourself in their shoes and feel what they are feeling”, most nearly means that someone must put their emotions aside and feel what someone else is feeling. There are two types of empathy, the first is affective empathy, which means someone is not only able to understand anothers feelings, but they are able to respond and give advice to someone in that situation because they have experienced it before. The other is reactive aggression which is the behavior that is in response to provocation, with the intent to retaliate. An example of this is being teased by someone and then becoming the teaser, in order to stand up for yourself. There is also social aggression, which is another term for cyberbullying. Cyberbullying is using technology to inflict damage or hurt on someone by phone or computer.(physology today). A question that is sought out by many people in the wolrd is, “Why do girls demean other girls?” Some people say, “oh, it’s just girls being girls”, but its so much more than that. Girls demean other girls due to the fact that they are jealous, threatened either by a girls looks or a girl, they want to be someone they can’t be, they are competitive, they are self-conscious, they are gossiping, they are trying to protect their “territory”, and boys and dating also contribute to them being mean. The ways girls demean other girls is by exclusion,ignoring, malicious gossiping/spreading rumors, manipulating affection, taunting, insulting, intimidating, cyberbullying, and alliance building against the girl in which they choose to
