Freedom of Speech, the right to vote, and the right to equality in public places. These are all basic rights that everyone in this world should have. All over the world, including in Australia discrimination of these rights occurred for the native people of the land. This happened because of their race and skin colour.
True freedom is without obstruction or restraint yet there are ways in which freedom leads to restraint. Many advances and opportunities gave rise during 1865 and 1910 in America along with it came a sense of freedom for the people who migrated or resigned there. People like Jurgis had the freedom to work, earned money, and own a home of their own, but in all reality they were not free but trapped by the very things that they had the freedom to obtain. Industrialization was a big thing in The United States and everyone wanted to be part of it immigrants like Jurgis would leave their home lands and travel to the city where there was said to be an abundance of jobs and opportunities.
What does freedom mean to a person? Eric Fonner’s article Freedom: America’s Evolving and Enduring Idea contains a number of different definitions for what freedom means and how it has changed and evolved throughout history. The idea of freedom is fluid throughout the whole article, the author uses five documents to prove his point. Common Sense by Thomas Paine, “Colloquy with Colored Ministers” by Garrison Frazier, “Trans-national America” by Randolph S Bourne, Korematsu vs. United States, and the Port Huron Statement of 1692 these documents illustrate how the meaning of freedom has changed from 1776 to 1962.
The idea of America is freedom over life, liberty, and equality for the pursuit of happiness. According to the Merriam Webster’s Dictionary; freedom means the quality or state of being free. Liberty means the state or condition of people who are able to act and speak freely. Equality means the quality or state of being equal; the quality or state of having the same rights or social status. The following paragraphs will show support for these ideas, starting with freedom.
America is a land of opportunity and freedom. Men and women had to sacrifice their lives for what we take for granted today. After this trip I have a very good idea of how powerful our country is now but with the power comes struggle and death. Many people believe that we should be limited on what we should wear on Halloween. They think that it would be too scary and might offend others. But I think that we should be able to wear whatever we want on Halloween. There are not many other governments in the world that give freedom to the people like the United States of America. The freedoms, such as freedom of religion, speech and the press, as well as the right to assemble and petition the government, granted in the First Amendment, are the most important [1]. At its most basic, it means the Government cannot punish you for expressing your ideas, beliefs, opinions, etc. However, there are exceptions. You cannot incite violence or rioting and you cannot threaten anyone with harm.
In America I believe in Freedom. Freedom means that anyone in America has the right to act, speak, or think however they want without restraint. Freedom to me means that I can do whatever I want or anyone, but there needs to be a limit on freedom. What is freedom? Is it an absolute right or is it something we can live without it? People born to be free. Throughout history freedom defined differently according to different cultures and different period of time. Freedom shows an alteration cultures to culture.
Freedom means the power or right to act, speak, or think without restraint, and the state of not being imprisoned or enslaved. Freedom is the correction to do what he/she wants, live life, and eat what he/she wants. How do we live free? We live free by not judging other people’s freedom rights. Everyone has their own rights.
