The politically correct definition of insanity is “the state of being seriously mentally ill, madness”. Now that's a little difficult to diagnose seeing as there is a faint line between sanity and insanity. Two other cases where people confuse insanity are with alzheimer’s and psychopathy. All three cases of mental illness are very similar, but yet they still have their differences. Some would go as far to say no one is truly sane, as would I. The question is, how do we define insanity? Is the acts that which society deems unusual? Or is there a deeper understanding of this illness in which we have not recognized? You can not ration with someone who suffers from insanity. The insane do not understand rationality or ethics. They do not see their wrongs as wrong. Although it is possible for the insane to have moments of clarity and realize their actions. Another way to define insanity is by those who do not believe in reality or all that is real. For example Dr. W.C Minor believed that mythical creatures would abduct him at night and force him to do harm. At the time, 1872, he was being held in an asylum of the insane for killing a man who he believed broke into his room. This was not the case therefore Minor was found guilty due to insanity. Ay sane person knows that mythical creatures do not exist. Lastly, though not a registered symptom of insanity, I feel that those who feel no fear for anything must be truly insane. Every person fears something whether it be something little as spiders or substantial as death, unless their mind is out of the ordinary.
