“It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Several people in Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird display this idea found in Acts 20:35. Dictionary.com defines generosity as "readiness or liberality in giving. " Those people in the book all gave valuable to bless or show thanks to someone else.
I had learned this by coming to understand that kindness isn’t only kind gestures, but instead a string of acts that conclusively lead to both parties seeing their own self value. It had been during my last years in middle school, a manipulative overlord of a person, someone I had been friends with for years, controlled me. Much like Mama Elena, this person whom I have given the title, “X”, was someone who needed to feel as if she had a tremendous amount of control over others. This person would tell me how worthless we, my friend, Dylan, and I, were. "X" would often blackmail us because of social mistakes like talking out of turn or forgetting to give her things like gifts or homework.
Kindness is one trait every individual desires to be treated with by others. It is , after all, the state of warm welcoming that helps us assimilate in a society. Besides, no one likes the feeling of getting rejected by a particular group based on their different backgrounds, culture, physique and/or experiences. The only way that perhaps heels this rejection ,due to the difference's in an individual, are the acts of when an another individual presents and treats others with their acts of benevolence. This act then also sheds a new light on an other individual's perspective, and gives them the knowledge to assert what they think is right for them to obtain their objectives.
Kindness does come with age according to Saunders, but that should not stop a young college graduate from focusing their mindset on being compassionate. Saunders conceived the idea that kindness can change the world and start the revolution of selflessness.
The idea of being equal with all other members of the community was appealing to many people. “He replied, “The one who treated him with mercy.” Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.” (Doc. Kindness is often overlooked in society yet it still manages to hold a great deal importance in the lives of many. Kindness is an empowering emotion that can change perspectives and alter destinies. In The Glass Roses by Alden Rowan the true importance of kindness is personified throughout the story. In the story Stephen is encapsulated by the kindness of his fellow worker and greatly impacts Stephan’s ability to determine his own destiny. The Glass Roses shows that individuals tend to hide their true emotions in order to gain respect from their peers however kindness, once truly unveiled can play a huge role in determining ones destiny.
1. Jesus told his apostles to love their enemies and treat others well even if they don’t do the same; he told them to do what they would want done to them. If they expect nothing in return, they will be rewarded and be seen good in the eyes of God. Jesus was teaching compassion and selflessness. This parable is the origin of the saying “Treat others how you want to be treated.”
The concept of being nice to people, even if someone does not particularly like them or isn’t fond of them, has been drilled into my head for the longest time. Teachers today even bring up that I should be nice to those I don’t like as if it is a childish concept. I have learned that being nice to other people is what I should do because it is what is
So constantly being kind and showing those kind emotions can show your character and build a reputation that you can uphold. In his quote, Elie Wiesel stated “Even on the edge of the abyss, it is possible to dream exalted dreams of compassion.” I believe he talked about
Living in a modern world many people get well educated and are making good changes in the world. But are we forgetting something in our busy society? My entire life has changed due to my kindness. Therefore, should I no longer be kind? Why offer my assistance to others if the outcome is penalization? These questions torment my mind; do I acknowledge what's happening around me, or should I just drive by? All I wanted to do was help people, and now, all I do is suffer.
The word altruism may come to mind for some. When performing acts of kindness we
Though sometimes people don’t do the right thing, people are generous towards each other, even during troubling times. People take care of each other and help each other when they need it. When things aren’t good, people try to have an optimistic attitude. People are generous towards each other, even during hard times.
Expanding kindness to all things is the trickiest part. But it can be done. Saunders mentions the most respectable names in history as an example of kindness like Gandhi, Mother Teresa, and Shakespeare. Kindness is what saves each of us. Each of us can recall the random act of kindness that was done to each of us.
We go through our everyday lives performing random acts of kindness but sometimes we fail to notice them. Over the last five days, I have documented some of the acts of kindness that I already did but failed to reflect on them after. Some of the things that I noticed was the reactions people had after being nice to them or asking them how their day was going. Their reactions were mostly positive, but sometimes they looked at me kind of weird and gave me very brief answers. Not all of my acts of kindness were towards others, I added some personal acts of kindness because they helped me relax and decompress.
