What is Love?
Love; it is a magical thing. Whether it be in songs by Ed Sheeran or Taylor Swift, we hear about it all the time and hope to one day find the love of our lives. However, love comes in many different shapes and forms. For example, I can say that I love my dog Peanut. This kind of love that is not a romantic kind of love; this is the love of family. Peanut is basically like my child for many reasons. I take care of her, I feed her, I give her water, and I give her plenty of attention. However my love for peanut can be the same as my parents because I would do anything for this dog. I would even take a bullet for her. We don’t know this until much later in the book. So what is different is that between these two books we don’t get the love and relationship at the same time. Gustav and Stanzi, you get an impression that they are good friends from the very first page where you see the scene where “Stanzi and Gustav are watching their favorite movie called M*A*S*H, this is a sob urging movie. Anyway, they are both under the same blanket and curled up on the couch with the lights off for a better view of the movie. Then Gustav’s parents walk in and realize they aren’t doing anything stupid but it is still really adorable. He actually means it. I think he is relieved to not be in my coffin dream. This is proving that Gustav does like humans. He loves Stanzi. It also is proving to him that love can change his opinion, He wanted to be in that coffin before he met Stanzi and that makes me sad but it is the truth.
