1. Dehumanization is the process of depriving a person or group of positive human qualities. During the Holocaust, the Nazis reduced the Jews to little more than "things" which were a nuisance to them. for example on page 52 it states that “At that moment in time, all that mattered to me was my daily bowl of soup, my crust of stale bread. The bread, the soup- those were my entire life. I was nothing but a body. Perhaps even less: a famished stomach. The stomach alone was measuring time.” This quote means that he is not thinking about revenge or trying to escape like any human that was not placed this situation would think but all he wants is food which shows that that this event takes away certain human qualities . Another quote that adds on to my thinking is on page 59“A man appeared, crawling snake like in the direction of the cauldrons. Hundreds of eyes were watching his every move. Hundreds of men were crawling with him, scraping their bodies with his on the stones. All hearts trembled, but mostly with envy. He was the one who had dared.” This quote shows that food is worth it even if you would of died and this surprises me cause you can use the energy to leave the camp you might buy you would now you tried but this situation dehumanized them and all they want is food
