A dental hygienist noticed that one of her patients was having a periodontal disease that was not noted in the chart. She tried to discuss this with a dentist by stating that her patient have a moderately advanced stage of periodontal disease. The probing results showed that some of the patient's periodontal pockets were 6 mm deep. The dentist response was not to worry about the patient and to keep cleaning out the pockets periodically. The dental hygienist did not feel comfortable treating the patient and asked a dentist to excuse her from performing a treatment.

Yaneisy was born in Camaguey, Cuba and came in 2008 to United States with her family. In 2010, Yaneisy started her dental career attending Sanford Brown Institute, Tampa FL for Dental assisting. She obtained her Expanded Function Dental Assisting & Radiology Certification in 2011. Joining Dr. Powless’s Team in January 2012 she a highly skilled assistant, very caring and gentle. She treats our patients like family and is very proud to be a part of our Dental team.
The purpose of this article was to assess dental hygienist beliefs on treating pregnant patients and assess the amount of education they have on the subject. Perinatal care among oral health care professionals has a focus since maternal periodontal disease was linked to preterm low birth weight babies. The authors wanted to examine hygienist views on the importance of oral care being apart of prenatal care, thoughts on treating pregnant patients, and knowledge level of appropriate procedures. Emails containing the questionnaire were sent to all Michigan Dental Hygiene Association members (MDHA).
I like to have clean teeth myself and nothing about them grosses me out. I have been thinking of a career in the medical field but didn’t know what specific area I wanted to go into. I think dental hygiene is perfect because it will challenge me to be something I know I can be but not intimidate me too
Everest College will fulfill my American dream because a successful career begins with a proper education. This college contains all the vital components necessary for me to become successful in my career choice. One of my favorite things about Everest is that it has a ‘hands-on’ program with a flexible schedule and that was exactly what I was looking for. Everest shows they really care about their students they are always there to encourage and to give the support system that needed in order to move forward. I love how the program teaches the importance of team work, customer services, patient care and the workings of a dental office.
Annotated Bibliography Tashina Stoffel, Personal Interview, 3 November 2015 I prepared for my interview by researching questions that would really be essential to my essay. I chose questions that would be easy for her to answer and questions that could be incorporated into my essay. I also asked questions that would be fun for her to answer and that could help influence my decision on the career. I used the answers to the questions to introduce the career.
The values and vision of MEDEX is what draws me to this school and what makes it my top choice. Including the ideas and emphasis on compassion and outreach, in which, is part of the foundation of healthcare itself. The compassion I obtain and have received from various experiences is what drives my desire towards becoming a Physician Assistant. My medical mission to Haiti created a fire in me to need to travel to places where care is in high demand. I gained the understanding that when healthcare has the foundation of compassion it can bring forth a great sense of appreciation.
Knowing that I will be seeing real patients makes me feel excited and nervous at the same time. I feel prepared because I would have a basic knowledge of using my instruments, knowing what looks normal in the oral cavity or not and how to present myself professionally. I would feel nervous seeing patients because I will not have as much time for cleaning as I did this semester, I would be watched by my instructors very intensely and the patients might become edgy because I will not be as fast as the registered dental hygienist. I understand, that is normal to feel unsure about things in life that might look foreign or new but it is important to stay focused and overcome all the obstacles.
Being a dental hygienist is one of the most respected careers, they are valued members of the oral health care team. Not only does it help the ones in need, it is providing you with the health care that many would benefit. Dental Hygiene Program Essay Introduction When you are young, you are asked: "what do you want to be when you grow up?" Most children would reply by saying a superhero, a professional basketball player, a model, etc. My response was always, someone who can make a difference in an individual's life. Finding out how I was going to do that exactly was challenging until I reached my junior year in high school.
I have great expectations of the Dental Hygiene Program and this is why I choose to move back to Virginia. I know that I made the right choice because I have heard wonderful stories from graduating hygienist. I know this program will make me the best dental hygienist and challenge me in the ways that will only make me a stronger health care
Dental bonding is used as a way to fix decayed, chipped or broken teeth. In addition, it can be used as a way to make your teeth appear more uniform in size and shape. However, dental bonding has its downfalls. It does not last as long as other cosmetic solutions like crowns and veneers and it can easily become damaged. As a result, dental bonding needs to be maintained a little more careful than your normal teeth.
My love of knowledge and eagerness to join the medical field are why the University of Michigan’s College of Literature, Science, and the Arts is for me. Along with receiving a quality education, I know by attending the College of Literature, Science and the Arts, I will have many quality opportunities to learn outside of the classroom or lecture hall and establish solid lifetime relationships. Growing up in Ann Arbor, I have always been inspired and interested by all the work the University of Michigan does, specifically around the fields of science. The University of Michigan’s science programs will help me to build a solid base for a career in the medical field, whether it be a degree in biology or chemistry. Another thing that interests me about the chemistry and biology courses at this college are the research opportunities granted to undergraduate students.
