First, who is the Department of Defense? Well, the Department of Defense is not just a group of men and women in uniforms fighting for our freedoms against worldwide threats. The Department of Defense is actually one of the highest executive branches within the United States of America. The department has control of the national security and supervises the armed forces of the United States. In addition, the department specializes in Peacekeeping, Homeland Security, Humanitarian Aid, and War-fighting in order to promote peace and provide protection to the nation. The main responsibility of the Department provides the military forces needed to prevent war and to ensure that the forces provide proper security and safety of our nation . In addition, the department desires to also focus on collaborating with a growing network of all of the U.S allies and partners on the same objectives/goals created by the organization. In honor of building an enduring advantage of the U.S National Defense Department, the department wishes to strengthen the foundations of the defense enterprise to provide better protection and ensure safety amongst its employees and fellow civilians, Meanwhile, as one of the largest department within the national cabinet, the Department of Defense holds a massive amount of responsibility and importance In the United States as well other …show more content…

For example, “For over a decade, the Defense Department’s Safe Helpline has provided a secure place for military survivors of sexual assault and their loved ones to get support and information 24/7.” (Vergun) . In addition, the helpline safe is properly trained to provide specific support to survivors in any of the military task forces and can also help connect service members to resources within their communities with ease. Another program that the organization had created to help support safety amongst their employees and civilians is by implementing a program called the “Patient Safety Program” . This mission of this program is not “ promote a proper culture of safety to end preventable patient harms but to also engage, educate and equip patient care teams to put evidence based leading practices in place across the organization. “ ( DHA).
