A. Marine life has been depleting because they have mistaken plastic for food resulting in death, all caused by us.
B. Humans only care about mass production of plastic because it is less expensive and they obtain a larger profit, but they discard of their waste anywhere, ultimately trashing our home, earth.

[Problem] There is too much plastic being discarded improperly, this pollution is a growing problem.
A. Plastics are cheap, require less energy to produce, and are lightweight compared to other materials. This makes them an ideal material for single-use disposable devices.
B. According to an article by Emily J. North and Rolf Halden from the Center of Environmental Security, over 300 million metric tons of plastics are produced in the world annually, and about 50% are products that are discarded within a year of their purchase. Which most of the plastic is not discarded properly.
C. According to KFOX TV the city of El Paso is currently facing financial issues due to improper recycling by residents. The city is trying to keep the recycling program even though it is losing money. The city brings in about 36,000 tons of recycling a year but some of it has trash mixed in, trash that needs to be sent back to the landfill at a cost to the city. They receive about 500 to 600 tons of trash each year, costing $26 per ton to ship back to the landfill.
