Rene Descartes and John Locke were one the most inflentenual thinkers in philopshy, science and literature in the seventh century. Both thinkers proposed answers to the same question of what knowledge specifically is and the factors involved in the process of acquiring knowledge. Descartes and Locke are responsible for the theory of knowledge also known as epistemology, in the philosophy study. Philopshers had different beliefs in regards to how to obtain true knowledge. There were two main philosophical practices of the time, them being rationalism and empiricism. The Rationalists, believed that reason is key in certainty of knowledge.
