I picked up for one reason and one reason only, /r/fantasy would not shut up about it. Senlin Ascends is everywhere on /r/fantasy and the concept and its praise from this subreddit was a profound obligation for me to read it and man was I not disappointed. Senlin Ascend was so vibrant and that is the best way I can describe it. The Tower of Babel was such a great place that even though I felt it was a horrible place I’d still want to visit it just because it’s so interesting. Ringdoms was a perfect name for each area. Each level felt like its own place or country, but still holding a strong presence of being a part of the Tower of Babel. My favorite was the Parlor, it was a freaky place with all these rooms with plays that you paid to be a part of and experience not to mention the twist of the place that just made it creepy. The Tower of Babel felt like a character, that it was alive and it controlled things that happened inside and it was so unnerving. …show more content…

I felt the side characters were just a bit underwhelming, but were still interesting which was enough for me. I just wished we had more of say Adam, Edith, and Iren but I expect we’ll get to know them more in the next book so I’m excited. Tarrou was an interesting character and his sacrifice was so tragic and I really felt bad for the guy. Ogier was a strange and mysterious character and the hints at his painting left me with questions on who he really was and made me excited for the next book to find out. In summary, the character was good, some got more time than others, but in the end, all were interesting and I’m looking forward to learning more about
