METHODOLOGY Research Design This study will make use of the descriptive-correlational research design. Descriptive research, according to Best Kahn (2006), uses quantitative methods to describe what is, describing, recording, analyzing and interpreting conditions that exist. It involves some type of comparison or contrast and attempts to discover relationships between existing non-manipulated variables. It is primarily concerned with the present, although it often considers past events and influences as they relate to current conditions. Data on the LET performance of the top performing TEIs for 2010-2015 will be gathered on the website of PRC. Data on CHED Awards will be requested officially in the Office of CHED. Data on accreditation level, curriculum and instruction, students, library, laboratories and administration will be gathered in the official accrediting agency of the TEIs based on their 2006-2011 accreditation ratings to establish correspondence of data since examinees had their schooling in the TEIs for the years 2006-2011. Official communication would be made to request these data. Data on the number of years offering teacher education, existence of a Review Center and best practices of the TEIs along admission and retention, faculty, curriculum and instruction, students, library, laboratories and administration will be gathered through a questionnaire to be administered to concerned officials of the TEIs. Validation of the questionnaire will be done through technical experts. Copy of the student handbook or the admission and retention policy will also be requested to the TEIs. To find for the factors affecting the licensure examination performance of top performing teacher educations in the Philippines, Multiple Regression Analysis will be used. The model on the licensure examination performance of top performing teacher educations in the Philippines will be based on the result of the Regression Analysis. SPSS software will be used to treat the data. Admission and retention policy will be evaluated based on the following categorization: Table 5.
