Why Do We Hide Our Identity

We all have our secrets that we hide from our friends, family and everyone around us. Everyone disguises themselves at some point in their lives either if it's with a mask or some other disguise. The purpose is to hide the true identity of our self. The reason we hide our true selves is for various reasons. At some point in life, we will have to face revealing our inner self, and what we have hidden from the world. However, looks, symbols, and colors can represent who you are. We wear the mask every day for different reasons to hide things about us that we do not want the world to see.
Every day we see colors all around us. They are a part of life, however, we do not take note of what their true meaning is. On my mask, the colors have a representation of my life. First, yellow represents my happiness. I am happy that I have a family, friends, food, clothes, a good school, and a good environment. For example, in the book Lord of the Flies by William Golding, he uses a conch(shell) to symbolize how much civilization and order it is. On my mask, the sun symbolizes my happiness. When it is the sun in a book or a movie, its mood is usually happiness. The rhinestones represent a barrier or something I struggle with. Near the mouth, I have rhinestones because I always struggled with speaking loud and clear towards audiences. Anytime when I do public speak, it feels like something is blocking me from speaking loud and clear. I was always labeled as quiet and shy because I rarely talk.
