Here’s what I would get out of attending DesignCamp2015
I think that as a student of design at UTS, the Design Camp would be a great opportunity to engage with design thinking in a realistic and actionable way, and to learn to apply the skills I learn through design to make real change. Working on briefs with real companies who have stakes in projects outcomes would also present, for me, an opportunity to witness and participate in the roles a designer can play in areas outside those obvious career options offered by my core degree. For me, one of the many things the BCII offers me is a wider array of skills, which makes the possibilities for what I can do with my degree so much broader. Being in Denmark puts it at the core of global innovation and exciting design — since the 50s Denmark has been a world leader in design, which makes it a fascinating place to practice design skills, especially for me as someone with a core degree in design. The opportunity to work in such a setting would, for me, would be an incredible experience of immersion in another culture of design, affording me a new perspective on design. The Design School Kolding seems to be an institution that continues to work at the fore of their field. By inviting students form all over the world, the school is creating a space where a wealth of opinions and perspectives can be shared in order to address global problems in the most resolved way, by engaging with them through many different contexts.
