In the story “Desiree’s Baby” Kate Chopin uses foreshadowing to give us readers hints of what’s going to happen later on in the story. In the story there was a girl named Desiree who was abandoned as a child by a coupe from Texas. Later there was a boy named Armand who was from London, Armand’s mother died when he was only ten years old, shortly after his mother dies his father moved them to Louisiana to start a fresh new life. Armand and Desiree would eventually get married and have a baby boy; but come to find out their baby didn’t match Desiree’s skin nor Armand’s skin color.
