Detroit Tasty Sweets was founded in 1946 by Edward Zurkowski in Hamtramck, MI. Edward opened the doors on September 1st, 1946 with nothing more than a building, a fryer, and himself. The only product that was sold was donuts with a specialization in Paczki’s. He had a vision of building an empire of mouthwatering treats that anyone could afford. He was determined to make his vision a reality. The first year of business was very rough for him, he worked sixteen hour days, seven days a week. He never once removed the smile off his face, he knew that one day Detroit Tasty Sweet would become a household name. In 1948, he finally was able to hire an employee, Maria Obrizak. Little did Edward know, that would be his future partner, Wife, and the heart and soul the bakery needed. …show more content…

People would travel hundreds of miles just to wait in line and hope to be able to eat one of the Paczki’s. Detroit’s Tasty Sweets become a household name. In hopes to makes Edwards vision comes true, Maria suggested to expand their product line. Soon, they were selling pasties and cookies. They could not keep them in stock, they flew off the shelves fast than they could bake them. They used quality ingredients and put love into every single product that came out of their kitchen.
