Shouldn't we know more about the disease that take more lives than a hurricane each year? Diabetes remains the 7th leading cause of death in the United States in 2010, with 69,071 death certificates listing it as the underlying cause of death, and a total of 234,051 death certificates listing diabetes as a contributing cause of death. If we got more funding from the government organizations like DYS (diabetes youth service) might be able to decrease that deaths number by a good 60%. Just that little bit of money could save lives and cure diabetes making life easier and more efficient for everyone.

What is diabetes? Well, diabetes is a disease in which the body’s ability to produce or respond to the hormone insulin is impaired, resulting in abnormal metabolism of carbohydrates and elevated levels of glucose in the blood. Diabetes is a very manageable cause/disease but can cause (if untreated) Amputation, cancer, illness, blindness, and arthritis. If diabetes is treated you can manage it.With all those causes, why don't we know more. With all that research, why don't we have more technology to prevent diabetes? Shouldn't the government give us more funding. If they did we could solve that problem and reduce the death rate by a good 222,000. …show more content…

The national death rate would go down a good 1,000 number or so. We could cure diabetes and find a good way to prevent it. The national diabetes association says that “The DDT is the nation’s lead federal agency providing prevention and treatment programs in communities throughout the country. Funding for DDT supports valuable diabetes prevention programs in all 50 states and in eight U.S. affiliated jurisdictions” so shouldn't the diabetes fund go up if it pays to all the states? More people die from diabetes than these other diseases-
. Heart disease.
