Classical Greek writers were able to create a foundation for the writers of eras to come to build off of and make into their own. While every piece of writing is formulated by the writers own experience or relaying the information from someone else, the format, diction and style of writing still remains the same or similar as time passes. Epic poems gave the ground works to a formal story telling, invoking a muse as the narrator and highlighting the key role diction can play in a story. Writers, like Seneca and Plutarch were able to branch from this style of writing to more informal pieces, drawing to the emotions of the audience and conveying more of himself.
