Some may call it Coca-Cola, Frappuccino, and Coffee, but I call it my addition. While everyone has their versions of a satisfactory drink, I consume coffee and other caffeine drinks due to my upbringings, day to day exposure to coffee, and its high level of addiction. I came to this assumption after reading my diet data that showed a huge amount of my diet came from caffeine drinks. Since I can remember, I always had caffeine in my diet. It didn’t matter what kind it was; a caffeine filled soda pop, ice coffee, normal coffee, or even coffee candy. My diet since then is full of caffeine due to the fact that, a good majority of my family consume caffeine as daily routine. By going to yelp and browsing “coffee shops” in all of Los Angeles County it shows that there is more than 900 coffee shops. This means that coffee shops are really consuming LA County and that there are so many places to buy coffee. In addition an article by MINTEL called “US Coffee shops still simply too hot to handle” stated, “The total number of coffee shops in the US increased by 70% between 2000 and 2005, bringing the total to a staggering 21, 400 or one coffee house for every 14,000 Americans. MINTEL believes that the number of shops could well continue to rise until there is a coffee shop for every 10,000 Americans.” This means that more Americans will be able to get more coffee easily, making the consumption of caffeine bigger. However, that is just coffee, fraps and more things sold in coffee shops; now, think about other caffeine filled drinks like soda, energy drinks, tea, and there even is food with caffeine like chocolate, ice cream, and more. There’re groceries stores that sell caffeine products; they’re located in practically every neighborhood and small family owned businesses that sell the same things not too far from them. Caffeine is just a never ending product found everywhere, and it’s so easy to access it no wonder why people such as myself have it in our daily diet that we become so addicted to
