Project Nutrition: The Dietary Analysis

Abstract
Nutrition is vital to everyone’s health. Good nutrition is essential to having a great, long, and healthy life. A lot of people have no idea how innutritious their meals are in their day-to-day lives. Project nutrition encourages documenting caloric, sodium, fat, protein, sugar, and carb intake to begin determining the changes that may or may not need to be made to ensure healthier and more nutritious meals for optimal living.

Energy levels can be affected negatively when there is a vitamin deficiency or lack of protein. While protein can be obtained from legumes, nuts, seeds, grains, soy, eggs, and dairy products, vitamins such as B-12 can be harder to get a hold to when adhering to a vegetarian diet. “Unlike some other B vitamins, B12 is not found in any plant food other than fortified cereals. It is, however, abundant in many meats and fish, and in smaller amounts in milk and eggs. This makes it difficult for people following a strict vegetarian diet to get the necessary amount of vitamin B12.” Most of the time when a vegetarian states that they feel sluggish all the time someone will respond with recommending they should start taking …show more content…

There are foods that can prevent and even reverse any of the conditions developing from high sodium consumption. Diet therapy is the treating of ailments and diseases by simply regulating an individuals diet. For example, it is proven that “ A multitude of animal studies has reported that blood cholesterol levels are lowered by consumption of soy protein rather than animal protein” (Coulston , 2001, p. 285). This is an easy change that can be made because experimenting with soy in recipes can turn old favorite meat filled dishes into delicious vegetarian ones. “Vegetables and fruits are good sources of vitamins and minerals. Vegetables and fruits are also low in calories and rich in dietary fiber. Vegetables and fruits contain substances found in plants that may help prevent cardiovascular disease.” Fruits are not really incorporated in my diet because it takes so much of it to make me full. I do enjoy eating fruits and vegetables however, and with this newfound knowledge I will begin including them in my diet
