The rehabilitation model has six key factors that play an important role in the rehabilitation of the offender. The six factors are a zero-tolerance approach to drugs, getting offenders clean and treating addictions, making sure they gain basic standards of numeracy and literacy, getting offenders into work, getting them identification, a bank account, and integrating them into services in the community, and fast-tracked punishments. This model has been directed at reforming the character of prisoners and preventing reoffending by using therapeutic interventions to address the psychological causes of criminal behavior as well as different services such as academic programs, vocational courses, and employment opportunities that help prepare offenders to be successful when reintegrating into the community. If both models were to be made into one single model, then that would be the best of both models and there would be a better chance to keep offenders from reoffending. The two models together would not only allow for there to be more rehabilitative means but for those that are unable to be rehabilitated there would be the means for a section that would focus on the punishment and the crime as well as finding and improving new ways to be able to rehabilitate an offender that is more complex than the rest of the offenders.
