The two words videography and cinematographer have begun to be used interchangeably by many people. Some studios in fact do not recognize that there is a difference between them, but when you look at certain factors, the differences are very apparent. If you are among the many who seem to think that these two words are the same, you are not alone, but here are the differences you need to know about.
The Cinematographer and Videographer
The person that is called the cinematographer within the cinematography crew is the head of the crew itself. The cinematographer is the one that is primarily responsible for the composition of the story, the camera movement, and to ensure that all video editing services are provided. Cinematographers are only under the director of the film and report directly to them. Their overall visions must match with one another for the production to be a success.
A videographer is a person that works primarily solo and often works on more of the budget minded projects as opposed to large scale productions. A videographer is the person that you may see on television that is in charge of the camera and practically everything else to do with the production during a documentary.
