The story is about a 14 year old boy named Harrison Bergeron who went to prison for trying to overthrow the government. Harrison Bergeron is a danger to society because he went to prison for trying to overthrow the government and because he took his handicaps off and said that he was the emperor and that everyone must obey him.

In the short story, most people see Vonnegut’s character as an immature fourteen year-old boy. People can see this easily when he states his goal is to become an “emperor” and how “Everybody must do what [he] say[s] at once!” (3). Harrison then goes on to stamping his foot in a way most people would see from a child who is throwing a tantrum. This is important because when Harrison points out that he only wants to be an emperor, it really shows how little he cares about the message the people saw and more about want he wants.
The characters in Harrison Bergeron were much different from the ones in Anthem. George (a mentally and physically handicapped man watching a television programme) was okay with the way the general public ran things. He was content with the fact that his government sounds off disturbingly loud and obnoxious noises in his head every time he had an individual thought. However, there was one character that wasn’t okay with what was going on; he went by the name of Harrison Bergeron, he was arrested at age 14 for supposedly being a threat to society because he was stronger and smarter than the other men around him. While in prison Bergeron was in prison his irritation with the social order grew.

George has some handicaps because he was smarter than his wife every 20 seconds he hears a loud noise in his head.
