Both stories show how a person’s inner desires can alter the way their minds see and react to different situations. “Apple” is the story of a young girl who starts to imagine everyone’s parents
First, In the Devil's arithmetic imagine this dieing by a group of people you don't know plus you don't get a funeral that people just throw your body out. When cole and Hannah make changes for survival in significant character changes the learned lessons are lethal including the oppositions from each main character. Hannah has managed to survive from the concentration camps cole managed to survive a mauling from a bear Second, Touching spirit bear is similar to the Devil's arithmetic. Touching spirit bear has fiction and a antagonist. Cole vs society because of his bullying problem the POV (point of view) is 3rd person limited.
In both passages “Watsons Go To Birmingham” and “Making Sarah Cry” have a common theme of Kindness. Although both passages share the same theme they have a different mood. In the story “Watsons Go To Birmingham” the mood is sad. In the story “Making Sarah Cry” the mood is also sad but it is also happy.
Segregations of family members is shown in both stories, this is a dilemma that the characters and family members need to cope with. Another example these two short stories need to cope with is the disappointing result of many people dying in war. Many of the people that fight in battle hardly make it out alive, the death results are higher than the amount of survivors. The story, The Sniper, deals with innocent deaths, "A man's head and shoulders appeared, looking toward the sniper.
Such as how the main characters faced death countless times. When Louie was being surrounded by 3 enemy planes which filled his plane with 594 holes, and when Pi was dying of hunger. Instead of regretting and despairing, Pi and Louie both persevered to live on. However, there are more differences than similarities. Such as how Louie was in a plane, and Pi was in a lifeboat.
Both characters view the world with an innocence that allows them to be optimistic about the world around them and they have an incredible ability to show kindness to others, even when they don’t deserve it. This is something that can be difficult even for most adults. They live in different time periods but both still face a great injustice of their time. When faced with this injustice a major difference between the two characters becomes apparent.
Just as Anne Frank's Book, exposes students to the situation she was in. All of these books are being censored in schools today, taking away from the reality of the past. Chen asserts that, "By exposing students to a myriad of confusing and troubling topics, teachers are guiding students into the reality of the complex adult and social world. Each text is chosen for a specific grade and age group; therefore, the books serve as a scaffold to slowly guide students to build upon more complicated ideas and realities(7). " Having students read these books allows for safe discussions on not just the literature, but also these topics.
The next main difference is that Peter and Cole are friends. Coming back to school is a tough transition for both of them, they’re constantly getting bullied and being called mean things. Cole notices some things that make him very upset for instance
One was evil, and one was good. In the other story, the two kids evened each other out instead. Another thing that was different was the amount of animals. In one, there we 're two of every animal, but it didn’t mention EVERY animal. In the other, there was an abundance of animals that we 're all sacrificing themselves for the Skywoman.
Surprisingly, some treated the acts of kindness as jokes. Everyday I ride the bus with one of my friends named Andres. During the acts of kindness I decided to be more serious with him and give him real advice rather than tease or fool around. We were talking about his relationship with his girlfriend, and I suggested that he could make it last
In the memoir “I Escaped a Violent Gang” and the play “The Watsons Go to Birmingham.” the theme they used was courage. In “I Escaped a Violent Gang”, Ana had enough courage to join a gang but not only that but to stand up against it. In “The Watsons Go to Birmingham” Sarah and Junior walk in a march for equal rights. They both show courage in different ways in “I Escaped a Violent Gang” the characters actions are different.
Another difference in the stories are in the way celebration is held and the reason behind it. In “Young Goodman Brown” there is a celebration; a gathering amongst the townspeople but the gathering is not for sharing happy moments rather they gather as sinners. Everyone in the gathering has sinned one way or another. While in “The Prodigal Son” the celebration involved the slicing of a calf to rejoice over the return of the prodigal son. This difference in celebration shows how difference the stories are and how celebration for goodness and celebration for evil reveal a person’s true
Ancient Egyptian deities represent natural and social phenomena, as well as abstract concepts.[1] These gods and goddesses appear in virtually every aspect of ancient Egyptian civilization, and more than 1,500 of them are known by name. Many Egyptian texts mention deities ' names without indicating their character or role, while other texts refer to specific deities without even stating their name, so a complete list of them is difficult to
There are two major differences in both of these short stories. The severity of the problem that the protagonists differs greatly and whether or not the protagonist put themselves in an unfavorable situation is there fault or not also differs. Sammy is put in a troubling situation through his own choices. He had the option to keep quiet but instead choose to try to act out in order to impress a few girls. Connie, however, did not have this luxury.
When I first met someone who didn’t like the book I was beyond shocked. Right at that moment, I realized that reading has its own effects on me. Reading has changed my writing skills, it has improved my knowledge and lastly, it has helped me manage my stress while going through hard times. Without reading I wouldn’t be the person that I am today.
