It may have an impact because females made up 75% of the respondents and 52% of the respondents reported scrolling through active social media accounts while either studying or doing homework. However, there was a very small difference between respondents that reported that they did not scroll through active accounts (44%). The results cannot prove whether there is a relationship between gender and if a person scrolls through active social media accounts while trying to study or do homework. The number of males and female are disproportionate. It may seem that females are more likely to scroll through active social media accounts, but the willingness of mostly females to respond to the survey needs to be taken into

Finally, the small talk turns out the argument on who is the talker at home. Tannen analyzes men’s and women’s opinions; then she concludes that “although American men tend to talk more than women in public situation, they often talk less at home” (263).

The study does not show if females act in the same way and conform hence or if this dispositional factor to behavior only applies to men. A limitation with both studies is also that situational and dispositional factors often go hand in hand as factors of why people behave as they do and neither of these researches take this into account. In conclusion, situational and dispositional factors explain behavior through the impact of the environment, situation, social surroundings and mood, personal traits and opinions, respectively.

Observation Assignment #1 For this observation I chose to study and observe the use of space in different interactions at a restaurant. The study of how we perceive and use space is called proxemics. Proxemics is studied because it can tell us a lot about people’s relationships and help us decode the messages that others send to each other (Guerrero, 2008, p.182). I went to a cafe for this observation and made sure I found a seat facing a lot of other tables.
