Disadvantages Of A Chemical Reaction

A chemical reaction is the reaction of two or more elements that results in the formation of a chemical bond between the atoms of these elements and accordingly, the formation of a new chemical compound, also known as the product.

A catalyst and its role in a chemical reaction: Occasionally, we need to alter the rate of a reaction. This might sometimes be feasible only if we use higher temperatures or pressures than normal, which may sometimes be impractical or very expensive. Another way of speeding up chemical reactions is by using a special substance called a catalyst.

A catalyst is a chemical substance generally used in smaller amounts, relative to the reactant and this compound, which alters the rate of a reaction, without being used in the process. A catalyst does not go through any physical or chemical changes during the reaction. Generally, a catalyst speeds up the rate of a reaction by dropping the activation energy. The activation energy is the minimum amount of energy that is necessary in order to trigger a reaction …show more content…

The availability of devices like catalytic converters help them to do so as well as allow practical needs for mobility, better and faster vehicles, to be satisfied.

To conclude, my opinion is that the benefits outweigh the disadvantages. Although catalytic converters have proven to be reliable and effective in reducing toxic emissions, they do not completely alleviate the unpleasant environmental impact of vehicular emissions. While they are effective in reducing the emission of hydrocarbons, NOx gases and other harmful gases, they convert these harmful contaminants to less harmful ones like carbon dioxide (CO2), which is then let out into the atmosphere. Catalytic converters play an important role in minimizing the damage to the environment and are therefore an integral part of the development of a mobile
